An Overview of Lake Cazaux
With its 55 km² surface area, Lake Cazaux, also known as "Lake Cazaux and Sanguinet" or "Étang de Sanguinet," is the second-largest freshwater lake in France. It was formed by the accumulation of waters from the Gourgue, a stream in the Landes plain. To find Lake Cazaux, head to the Great Lakes region of the Landes. It straddles the Arcachon Basin and Lake Biscarrosse-Parentis. It is bordered by the commune of Sanguinet to the east, Cazaux to the north, Teste-de-Buch to the west, and Biscarrosse to the south. This large lake in France is located near the Aquitaine coastline.

To get to Lake Cazaux, take the road from Bordeaux and head to Sanguinet. The journey is approximately 60 km. For accommodation, campsites, cottages, and hotels are available nearby. Our Sea Green campsite near Teste-de-la-Buch is about 30 minutes from the lake. During your day at the lake, respecting the environment is mandatory. Avoid leaving your waste in nature, disturbing the local fauna and flora, or violating fishing regulations. Lake Cazaux-Sanguinet is an ideal spot for outdoor activities.
