Between your water activities on the Silver Coast, your cycling tours around the Arcachon Basin, and your boat trips to Bird Island and Cap Ferret, you’ll surely want to take a few hours to relax and reconnect with nature. Whether as a couple, with family, or friends, the Mauresque Park in Arcachon is one of the locals' and visitors' favorite natural spots to recharge near the 4-star campsite in La Teste-de-Buch.

A haven of peace and a remarkable botanical garden

How delightful it is to enjoy the silence, especially in a lush and tree-filled haven of peace where century-old trees reign supreme. Nestled in the heart of the Winter City, the Mauresque Park is a true oasis in Arcachon's Winter City. Who frequents this botanical garden? Strollers who enjoy wandering and losing track of time, nature lovers, dreamers, poets, photographers, and painters seeking inspiration from the Summer City and the Arcachon Basin in view. While exploring, curious visitors will enter the rose garden and be intoxicated in spring by the fragrance of its 600 roses. Inaugurated in 1992, the arboretum, covering 4 hectares, is home to stunning exotic plants. Take a moment to sit on a red bench, one of Arcachon's iconic benches, to admire the surroundings and feel part of something greater.

Kiosk, children’s playground, and elevator

This botanical garden was once the park of the Mauresque Casino, which was destroyed by fire in 1977. This beautiful building had been designed by Paul Régnauld and Jules Salesses. Today, visitors are charmed by its kiosk, open-air theater, and the scale model showing that the site is a faithful reproduction of the Alhambra in Granada. If you’re visiting with family, you’ll find a playground for children. Want to access the park in a unique way? Take the elevator from Rue du Maréchal-de-Lattre-de-Tassigny (behind the fountain), and it will take you right into the heart of Mauresque Park.
